Like in the USO episode of Louie, Sgt. Stubby was snuck into a war zone by some jerk kid. He wasn’t a service dog, but rather a soldier’s pet.
He’s stuffed and on display at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
When I lived in DC, I would sometimes play hooky from work and go to the National Mall and go visit him.
He was intact.
Sergeant Stubby (1916 or 1917 – March 16, 1926), was the most decorated war dog of World War I and the only dog to be promoted to sergeant through combat.
