Lara Bars are the most underrated among all health bars.
They’re cheap ($1 each, less if you buy a whole box at Whole Foods), simple (usually three or four ingredients), calorically & nutrionally dense (210 calories, 10% of my daily potassium & 6 grams of protein in the delicious PB&J bar I just stuffed in my face), and really, really, really delicious.
I can find and every single one has been my favorite so far.
I’m pretty sure I first tried them at the Chicago Marathon last year (I don’t run marathons, I just help drive to them), where they were giving out samples. My response was something like, “Holy shit, that’s awesome! What’s in that!?”
The answer: Like three things.
How the fuck do dates, peanuts & dried cherries, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich make?!!?!
For the money, I hate to admit it, they’re an even better choice than Clif (I love Clif bars, but they’re super processed with long ingredient lists) and even my beloved, delicious, nutritious, over-priced ProBars aren’t as good per penny as Lara Bars.
